Larry Summers Steps Down from ChatGPT Maker's Leadership
Ex-Treasury chief Lawrence Summers is departing from the directorate at OpenAI, just a week after a series of digital correspondence between him and deceased financier the disgraced billionaire became widely known.
He commented in a statement that he was "grateful for the privilege to have served, enthusiastic about the promise of the organization, and anticipate observing their development".
Summers, who once led the prestigious university, announced on recently that he would be withdrawing from public commitments due to his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Digital Correspondence
The freshly disclosed emails revealed that the official corresponded with Jeffrey Epstein until the eve of Epstein's 2019 detention for accused human trafficking of underage individuals.
In a separate statement, the technology organization stated it understood Summers' decision to resign.
"We acknowledge his numerous inputs and the perspective he offered to the directors," the organization stated.
Legislative Background
This development comes after the two houses of the legislative branch voted on this week to approve a measure that would require the US justice department to disclose its files on Jeffrey Epstein.
The measure will afterward proceed to the administration of President Trump for endorsement. The President has indicated he intends to sign the bill, after reversing his view on the issue following pushback from his followers.

A batch of Epstein-connected messages released by the Congressional committee last week referenced multiple high-profile figures in the financier's previous network, without indicating any criminal activity by those individuals.
