Indianapolis Colts Face Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action
Hello, fussball enthusiasts. How are you? Alles klar I hope on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on soil in Germany and the first in the capital city.
Pre-match Key Moments
As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.
Well, the Colts have won the toss and have chosen to get the ball first. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the German anthem. Elegant.
Opening Period Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
And we're off! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor receives a short throw, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to save his bacon with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from Jones. On the play before the turnover on downs Jessie Bates put a huge hit on the Colts' tight end. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Touchdown Recap
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they cough the ball back to the Colts on the 23-yard mark. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and fumbles the football.
A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets Jonathan Taylor up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Oops.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the heart of the field for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
