More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the film, remarking that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles court official agreed to prevent the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A legal directive issued a embargo on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of foul play, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".

In the wake of the killings, public figures offered different reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing provocative statements that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan described the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they revealed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an associate ought to have stepped in when the choice to comment on the tragedy was made.
