Edwards as well as Gary O'Neil Included in Wolverhampton Wanderers Head Coach Candidates

Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the early names in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend after the team's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the club - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town manager - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the club board as they start the process of hiring a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed which means the club would not need to provide any buyout fee.
